Purple Dior + Update!!

Hey dolls, Happy Monday!! Hope you all had a fabulous day. I had a marvelous Monday and I can finally tell you dolls why.  So please excuse my absence from my beloved blog lately but I have been extremely preoccupied with a new career move. This will be my last week at my current position and although I am sad to be leaving a great company with great people, I am super excited to be taking the next step in my career. This new position is a promotion and most importantly I get to choose my new place of residence and leave this god forsaken place I have grown to loathe/love oh so much. Some places in the world literally stifle your growth and sucks the energy from your soul yet have the ability to change who you are as a person. For me that place is Shreveport, Louisiana. For the last 15 months I have loathed this place for all this it is and all that it is not however, I love it for having the ability to slow me down long enough to meet some truly awesome people and rediscover myself. Confusing I know but it makes all the sense to me. Now the question is where to next dolls???
I have narrowed it down to three places and I need your help making this decision lovelies. Washington, DC, a place I have never lived but have always wanted to conquer. I feel it would be an awesome place for culture, intellectual conversation and an upcoming fashion scene to grow with.

Then you have Philly, with my hometown right across the bridge and family close by, love the city of brotherly love and its cheaper than DC but..... I've kinda been there done that.

Last but not least, New York City. A city that will always hold a special place in my heart but not sure if I'm ready to start the sprint I will inevitably be in at least 95 percent of the time. NYC does that to you, push you to your limit, as it should.

So there you have it dolls......DC, Philly or NYC whats your vote?? I'm outta here at the end of January so we don't have must time. In the meantime enjoy my week full of Office Outfits of the Day....

  2. As a Jersey girl I would say NYC but for something fresh I would say DC. check out www.glamazondiaries.com for some of the DC fashion scene.

So feel you on the stiffling your growth thing. I really miss the grind, inspiration and motivation of being so close to NY :(

I know you will pray and get the answer that is the best for you- can't wait to see what this next leg of the journey will bring you :)

  4. I say DC, you will love it. I'm from/live in DC and the culture is great and the fashion is definitely breaking out of its shell.

  5. I lived in MD/DC for college and I loved it as a place to live for a short period of time...but the New Yorker in me came running back home. NYC has so much to offer. I've been a New Yorker all of my life and there are still tons of places I haven't seen. With DC....you'll pretty much see everything in a couple months but I definitely loved the calm-down and family oriented vibe of the area.

Hope that helps! And since this is a fashion blog...I love those pants!

  6. OK I SAY DC & I'LL TELL YOU WHY, I LIVE IN PHILLY & THE ENERGY HERE IS NEGATIVE, PEOPLE DON'T SPEAK, DON'T HAVE MANNERS, JUST PLAIN OLE ATTITUDES & THE FASHION HERE IS WELL EVERYONE LOOK ALIKE (BASICALLY BORING) YOU BEING A GOOD SPIRITED PERSON & A FIERCE FASHIONISTA SHOULDN'T EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME & AS FAR AS NYC ALL THE GOOD CLOTHES AT THE THRIFT STORES ARE GOING TO BE GONE SO NOOOO DON'T DO IT LOL, DC IS RIGHT FOR YOU, I ALWAYS ENJOY MYSELF IN THE DMV AREA :)

  7. First, I love your outfit as always. Personally, I think DC. DC is where I was born and have spent years and years visiting. It is an awesome place full of culture. There is always something to do yet it isn't as "busy" as NYC. Plus, you would only be two hours from Philly so you could still be close to your family.

  8. Hey Ms. Naja. I love the classic office look. The purple and grey is a great combo!

I am a DMV'r (what we call the DC, MD, & VA area) by way of NYC (born and raised) and dated a Philadelphian when in college and spent lots of time there. So I can speak of all three. They are all pretty similar with their small unique nuances.

I think you would love the DC area because you can get the best of all three in one little area. You are only a hop skip and a jump from Philly and NYC if you want to visit. One of the things I love most about living in MD is there are plenty of us black folk doing well raising families. As far as from the fashion perspective, you can gain different things from each of the areas but you will enjoy either of them just the same.

I wish you well in your decision!

  9. I say DC (biased because I am from there and hopefully will be moving back super quick!) It's convenient to the other cities you listed but I absolutely think there is no culturely aware and rate of successful transitions for young AA career driven folks. Even if you don't live in DC (I recommend the surrounding suburbs for cheaper living) there is flexible spending options

  10. I say go with NYC. All or nothing :) YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

  11. I myself am a New Yorker and love it dearly. However I say you should try something new. Go for DC. Congratulations girl!

  12. DC or NYC. I'm from NYC and consider DC a second home. DC is THE place for young black professionals, but boy oh boy people can be quite materialistic there. NY like you said is hustle and bustle and will give you a hard shell. Both are expensive too but you have more options if you live in Maryland or Queens, NY. Anymore info I'd be glad to offer.

  13. I currently live in DC and love the city. It has great places to eat, visit, play, and hang out. The only downside is the cost of living and it is expensive. If you work in he fashion industry I will chose NY. It the place to be for fashion and your career will be taken to new heights. I'm from NY and I love, but I love DC as well. Congratulations and I know what ever decision you make you will be happy.

  14. Well, as a native Washingtonian, I love my hometown! Im currently trying to relocate just because I've lived here my entire life. However those that have relocated to DC for various reasons (school mostly...Im also an Howard U. grad, GO H.U.!) don't leave! D.C. is extremely culturally diverse and an excellent city for career advancement especially in areas involving government and politics. Its a city with great nightlife and close to many major cities driving. It is an expensive area but once you get used to the expense, you'll love the city! My vote is for The Capital City... D.C.!

  15. First off...let me say I love the outfit. You seem like you are so fun and spunky I say try DC!!!! I think you will like it :-)

  16. I currently live near DC, so my vote is DC. The cost of living is expensive, but its worth it. We are close to Philly and NYC, so you can always hop in the car or train and visit the other cities. There is always something going on and something to do in DC. Plenty of culture.
