Summer Series: Shorts

We all have a body part we love and one we hate. The key to feeling confident and maintaining balance between the two is to accentuate what you love and cover up what you don't. It draws the eye and attention to the point of reference and hides what you want to hide making you feel confident. I love it that my First Lady loves to show off her svelte, toned arms. Even though she received a little slack for it, you don't see her being afraid to show them off. She knows she looks good and it shows. I love that about her.

My favorite body part have got to be my legs, I love them! Absolutely adore them actually, even when they annoy me by losing muscle tone and gaining a dimple or two I still love them. I feel they are one of my best features and jump at the opportunity to show them off. This year I have a little work to do to get them back to where they were but I still love them nonetheless. I encourage you dolls to not be afraid to flaunt your best assets, do it because you WANT to without regard of what others might say, as long as it makes you confident....DO YOU BOO!

Summertime is the time to wear shorts and flaunt those legs dolls, here are a few pairs I've picked up recently and am currently coveting. I also encourage you dolls to understand porportions and know what looks good on you and what doesn't and try things on. You'd be surprised how some pieces might fit your body.

Tribal Print Romper.....Beyonce Inspired Look of the Day!

Hey dolls, Happy Memorial Day! Hope you all had a lovely long weekend. I spent the weekend romping around, even got a little bored and decided to take my weave out and let my natural tresses flow free. I'll be sure to give you dolls a sneak peek before I get a new install next week. I love this romper and was totally inspired by Beyonce carefree look here. I loved this jumpsuit instantly when I found it on Macy's website days after it arrived I found this pic of Beyonce on the net rocking almost the same version but in dress form. I knew I have to recreate her carefree, simple and sexy look. I will admit it took a lot in me to keep this look simple and not heavy on the accessories side. I just wanted to stack on a bunch of bangles but liked the overall look afterwards and was glad I stepped outside my comfort zone and "Norm" to try something new. Rompers are seriously my FAV dolls so easy breezy and simple kinda like an adult onesie! LOL

***Hey lovelies today is the last day to VOTE for me for 'Best Rookie Blog' for the 1st Annual Style Bloggers of Color Awards. Thank you for all you lovelies that have voted for me and those who have not just click HERE!!***

Summer Series: Sunnies

Hey dolls, with the summer right around the corner I thought I'd start a summer series to highlight summertime essentials. This will be for my benefit as well as yours dolls! I am still rebuilding my wardrobe and have been taking it one season at a time. I started off slow after the fire and stuck to basics like tanks, shorts and sandals last summer.

I looked in my closet recently to find I really don't have any summer clothes and desperately need to go shopping. So I made a list of my top 10 must-haves and will feature them once a week along with how  I style them. So to kick off our summer series I had to start with my Number 1 Summertime Essential.....a hot pair of shades. I literally don't leave home without them dolls, they are a MUST! Not only do I hate the squinting, scrunched up Granny face but they simply add that cool factor to any ensemble.

Here are some of my fav frames that have been added to the collection and a few on my wish list. Oh and FYI my birthday is in a few weeks and I would not mind one bit if any of these showed up on my doorstep....Just sayin :-)

Summer Uniform

Hey dolls, hope your enjoying the weekend, I know I am. Even though this past week seemed to have gone by pretty fast, I'm still happy to see the weekend. Today I was out and about enjoying the weather and stopped by the 1st Annual Natural Hair Meetup Day. I have been natural (No Perm, just weave and a Keratin treatment on my leave out) for over 2 years now and have been wanting to bring out the Fro for some time. I desperately want to try kinky twists, twist outs, rod sets and all the lovely natural styles I come across. I still haven't been able to find a decent hair stylist in this area so I figure now is as good a time as any.  I went to check out the event to get more information. Ladies in the DMV sure know how to rock some natural hair and everytime I see a fly natural chica I want to JUST DO IT! But I need more information. My biggest fear is the maintenance. I hear ladies say they wash twice a week, co-wash then pre-poo then detangle, then all the products you go thru before you find the ones that work for you. I'm exhausted just typing all that stuff and honestly don't know what half the lingo really means!! I actually came across a dictionary for natural lingo online that explains the language. With my weave I wash, blow-dry or air dry, flexirod, flatiron (sometimes) and thats it. I am a lazy lazy lady when it comes to my hair. I'd much rather pay someone to keep it lookin fly or be as low maintenance as possible. When I do take my weave out I need to be sure I'm ready for the commitment. One thing I learned today at the Meet-up......Going Natural is 90% Mental 10% Physical.....oh and don't ask what is Henna real loud in a room full of die hard Naturalistas. LOL, you will get the side eye!!

So this is pretty much my uniform during the summertime dolls. Short shorts and high heels. I did some summer shopping yesterday and seriously went bananas over all the bright, neon colors in stores now. Just lovely....be prepared for a LOT of neon to come. LOL, Enjoy lovelies and don't forget to VOTE for me for 'Best Rookie Blog' for the 1st Annual Style Bloggers of Color Awards. I would so appreciate your support lovelies.

Pastels & Neon

Hello my loves! Happy Monday and I hope all my fabulous mothers out there had a pleasant and enjoyable day yesterday.  I spent the weekend hanging out with family and friends and even took a little impromptu road trip home to Jersey to surprise some special Mother's in my life. Here are a few pics from the weekend. I decided to remix my linen trench vest with my fav pastel tulip skirt. I loved the combo and am living for the versatility of this piece. Just goes to show that you do not have to spend a bunch of money on wardrobe basics and the options are endless. I am a firm believer, since the fire, in investing in timeless pieces. I love trendy pieces as well but I would not recommend spending a ton of money on them. Invest in timeless pieces they will make your wardrobe very versatile and effortless. This trench vest has officially been added to that category for me! Have a fabulous week dolls, chat witcha soon!
I feel like I was back in my cheerleader days with this pose. LOL
Dolls this necklace was my first official DIMy (Did-It-Myself) project I tried after discovering it on PINTREST....follow me HERE dolls!! I seriously couldn't be more proud! Just a bit of neon nail polish to spruce up an old Forever 21 piece....Let me know if you want a tutorial...its super easy!
